Balmoral Sailing Club’s Junior Sailing Program is designed for juniors (9 years +) who have a passion for sailing and would like to further develop their skills into club racing.

The program runs on Saturday mornings 9:30am to 12:00 noon, from September through to May and includes:

  • professional race coaching
  • on-water and off-water lessons, together with participation in club and the club Championship
  • inter-club racing - State/Nationals/Teams Racing
  • on-water activities are supported by a safety patrol boat with trained operators.

The Junior Sailing Program is an open fleet. Current boats in the fleet are MJs, Windsurfers and Open Bics. Other boats are welcome. The club has several loaner boats for those wishing to try out these boats. Racking facilities for boat owners are available through the club.
The requirements for the program are:

  • Prior sailing experience – preferably to Tackers 3
  • BSC membership –  Here
  • Get your active kids vouchers here

Loaner boats and crew spots are available.

The program is primarily staffed by volunteers and to support the program BSC encourages the families of junior sailors to get involved in the club and to support their child’s passion for sailing. If possible at least one parent can help with the program. Opportunities to assist include both on-water and off-water activities. There are numerous social activities at the club including BBQs, pizza nights and prize nights.
