Balmoral Sailing Club welcomes new members of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Whether you are 5 or 85 or anywhere in between, you'll enjoy being a member and sailing or volunteering.
There are many ways to enjoy sailing at Balmoral. We sail 505s, Aeros, Contenders, Herons, Lasers, Manly Juniors, Mirrors, Moths, National Es, Tasar, and Windsurfers. For juniors we have our Junior sailing program, and for kids the popular Tackers program.
Our regular race day is Saturday from the beginning of September until the end of May and some members sail mid week, Sundays and throughout Winter.
New members are always welcome. We can help you buy a boat and racks are available for boats that sail regularly. Have a test sail, try out an Aero, windsurfer, Laser, Tasar or Mirror.
We welcome volunteers especially for our race management team. You can be a sailor or just inspired to help at a sailing club. If you'd like to see what is involved come out for a day on the power boats and see how the club operates. You will have a wonderful day on the water and the opportunity to watch the racing.
Tackers is an introductory, fun, games-based sailing program designed for kids 7 to 12, delivered at recognised Tackers Clubs. Kids don't need any sailing experience. All the equipment, including boats, is provided. Kids play loads of games and go on adventures together to learn how to sail. The Tackers programs is provided by Balmoral Water Sports located at Balmoral Sailing Club.
Our Junior Sailing Program is designed for juniors (9 years +) who have a passion for sailing and would like to further develop their skills into club racing. The program runs on Saturday mornings 9.30am to 12 noon from September through to May with qualified coaches from Balmoral Water Sports. There are on-water and off-water lessons, club and inter-club racing. All on-water activities are supported by a safety patrol boat with trained operators.
New to sailing? Try a lesson with the sailing school, Balmoral Water Sports, located at Balmoral Sailing Club. Dip your toe in the water with a short intro to sailing, learn the basic parts of the boat and experience sailing for the first time yourself in a single handed boat.
If you have sailing experience with a dinghy or windsurfer, and interested in joining the club and buying a boat or a windsurfer, we can arrange a test sail. We have an RS Aero, a Windsurfer and Formular Windsurfer (via Strorm-riders Windsurfing Club) and a Club, Mirror and Tasar.
Arrange a test sail (for dinghy or windsurfer sailors with some experience)
There are a range of membership categories to suit families, juniors and senior sailors.
