HOW THE CLUB IS ADMINISTERED
(AND HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED)
Balmoral Sailing Club is a voluntary organisation which is incorporated under the New South Wales Co-operatives Act.
A Board of Management, elected each year at the Annual General Meeting, is responsible for the running of the Club. It comprises the following positions:
FLAG OFFICERS: Commodore, Vice Commodore, Rear Commodore and Club Captain
EXECUTIVE OFFICERS: Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer
DIRECTORS: There are 5 directors who take various responsibilities. Each director accepts a particular area of responsibility of the Club's functions to encourage devolution and to spread the work load of running the Club.
Various Committees are formed and these usually have a Board Member as a Convenor. These Committees may co-opt any Club Member onto them and this is an area where you can become involved in assisting with the running of the Club. The principal committees are:
BOARD MEETINGS: Board Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of every month unless otherwise advised
RACE COMMITTEE: This Committee is responsible for the organisation and running of the racing program and its administration. The Committee meets regularly and all Class Captains make their reports to the Board through this Committee.
POWER BOAT COMMITTEE: This Committee is responsible for the running and maintenance of the Club's power boats.
SOCIAL COMMITTEE: This Committee is responsible for organising the social events for the Club.
Other Committees include House, Training and Promotion/Publicity each of which are responsible for planning and organising social events, taking care of maintenance and repairs around the Club and promoting the Club, respectively.
Class Captains of each sponsored class are responsible for the organisation of Class matters and reports to the Race Committee. The Class Statistician/Handicapper is responsible for calculating Class results each week, keeping an on-going record of results for the various types of the events and setting / adjusting handicaps.
Cruising Division Committee is responsible for planning and running of the Cruising Division’s program on and off the water.
