The Cruising Group meet at the Club from 7:15PM every second Monday of the month, every month of the year except January. Champagne precedes a brief meeting updating members on future events followed buy a guest speaker or audio visual presentation, if available. Immediately following the guest speaker the Group has a very informal barbeque. In addition to the monthly meetings an organised activity is planned for the last weekend in the month. These activities are advertised at the meeting and via the newsletter “Whales Tales”. There’s usually something for everyone. We also have about three major evening social activities during the year. The Jazz Night and Trivia Night are firm favourites. The activities of the Cruising Group are open to all members of BSC and the Group is very keen to welcome members to the monthly meetings and to join in on the monthly on or off water activities all year round. Amongst the members of the Cruising Group there are hundreds of years of accumulated yachting experience with some members very experienced in ocean cruising and others who simply like to potter around our harbours and rivers. For any BSC member starting out in keel boats, the Cruising Group is invaluable for passing on knowledge about navigations, seamanship, provisioning, chartering, engine maintenance and even yacht purchase. Any members of BSC who have a yacht and are on the harbour when you hear on VHF77: “Blue Whale, Blue Whale, Blue Whale this is….”, respond and make yourself known
